The Wheaten Terrier is a medium-sized dog. The teeth of the dog are known to be the sharpest of all dogs and appear to be . The wide-set eyes are almond shaped and come in a reddish brown and a chocolate brown color. Light or yellow eye color can occur but is a breed fault in the standard.The long head is rectangular in appearance and can has a long snout. The black nose is very large compared to the size of the dog. The soft ears fold forward and are in the shape of a V. The back is straight, forming a level top-line. The front legs are straight and the paws are compact and round with black toe nails. The tail is either cropped or kept natural. Dewclaws are usually removed. The single, wavy coat comes in some breeds of this terrier but the more natural coat is more thick and less wavy. Puppies are born dark brown and black and lighten to a more white or blond color by the time they are two. There are two coat varieties, the American and the Irish. The Irish coat tends to be thinner and more like silk. The American coat is less curly and sometimes a little thicker. For more information click here
